Lamenting Flight

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Requiem for the Fallen Icarus

(…Enter Chorus)

I ceased to see for a moment…
Letting mind and soul ascend,
leaving my body to sing --
these succeeding faint lines;
verses swaying to your heartbeat’s cadence --
slave to its effervescent tempo!

x

…My fingers traced the Braille lexis from your corporeal,
A touch striding inch after rousing inch.
With leased eyes I then forget this mortal blindness;
For in your eyes lies my poetry’s infinite inkwell.
Those orbs -- penchant to an Oracle’s black pearls,
Bequeathing a poignant stare with enigmatic persuasion.
Impressionists to the aura of lustrous spirits.
Illuminating; supplementing your tresses’ halo,
Belittling the sun’s radiance; taunting its insipid gleam.
Offering a blinding stare, configuring constellations.

(Chorus)

Then,
I ceased to feel for a moment…
Letting mind and soul ascend,
leaving my body to sing --
these succeeding faint lines;
verses swaying to your heartbeat’s cadence --
slave to its effervescent tempo!

xi

…Sensation and stimuli I cautiously chartered from your lips;
Those amorous lips as elegant as butterfly wings,
In whose these pilgrim lips but do trespassed.
A harvest of wild berries seemed to linger,
Out of every savored kiss, shifting from meek -- rupturing to manic.
Cherishing breaths aromatic as summer blossoms.
Crafting a chaste smile in between pauses -- after every sighs.
Laughter in whose grace dyes the horizon with unseen hues,
Euphorically bringing to a wondrous standstill --
The irrelevance of time and the insignificance of existence,
Letting me forget all my woes, leasing me to taste sweet bliss.

(Chorus)

Then.
I ceased to love for a moment…
Letting mind and soul ascend,
leaving my body to sing --
these succeeding faint lines;
verses swaying to your heartbeat’s cadence --
slave to its effervescent tempo!

xii

…Soliciting warmth from your ephemeral embrace;
From your body’s landscape of metaphysic symmetry.
Beneath the finitude of fervor sheets;
I drowned my melancholy in-between the blatancy,
Trenching my gloom deep amid the rasping of zealous thighs --
Letting the lighthouse’s scarlet lantern silhouette
The matrimony of fiery limbs and its requited prayer.
From centered ophyron, to sweltering chest,
To cross unburdened shoulders --
‘til the unnerved clasping of calloused hands.
In loves’ sepulcher my somnolence took its respite;
Even if only for an epigrammatic instance…Even if only…

( Exeunt Chorus)

Then,
I ceased to breathe for a moment
Letting mind and soul ascend
Leaving my body to write,
Leaving my body to sing,
Leaving my body to faint…
Back into the bosom of the
previous proverbial lines.

Lamenting flight? You regret it, then? Hmm...

This piece, this requiem, I have relished reading it. ^_^ It spells pathos for me. And yeah, there's a lot of that going around poetry sites, eh. Hah. I especially like how you have portrayed her eyes...

And my fave line:
Offering a blinding stare, configuring constellations.

And the "clown" bares his soul... ^_^ Do write more.

Soulless:

Lament…?

Having tasted the sun, defied gravity, and feasted among the clouds – the mere allusion of
losing congenial weightlessness can turn “flight” into “plight.” The thin line – the grey extrication between
lament and bliss are stirred and configured when feathers are plucked from wings promised you. Wings you once crafted to touch the ethereal heavens. Then like the stars (your chess pieces of faith) -- once your allied infantry, from pawn to king can get swallowed by Pathos’ supremacy; ‘causing the Immortality of pledges to become its mere antonym. Resulting, in pain again reaching you with its omnipotent hold.
Thanks!

Your blog had my insecurity gnawing at my sensible shoes.

PS:

I wished I had known your page by the time I was doing a poetry workshop. By then, I would've begged to kingdom-come to pursuade you to let me borrow your poety-soul so I could write something beautiful.

That is, if you can be bribed by umm... er... unsolicited adoration? :D

PPS: Anyweyz. Love it here. :)

Darliza:

A god I am not, ‘tis blasphemy for one as malevolent as me to even ponder such divine liaison.
I am merely a jester for their amusement, a sick comic in a forgotten carnivale cathedral.
Your upbeat reception is greatly appreciated nonetheless. I’m humbly honored.

From a frustrated poet named van:

It is yours. Let my words move you onward eloquent dynamism, if you desire to draw upon them.
As I have with my own ephemeral muses, they rouse me to fluid utterance.
As for the bribe -- enough compensation has been made with your sober affirmations of familiarity;
If you permit me to ask imbursement, then all I solicit is you to toast with me
as I offer a drink to our muses, “May they never leave our pens.”
Massive thanks! 'Til next..
